MY STORY

In December 2018, I left work in an ambulance.

I had finished a meeting and expected to begin my Christmas break. Instead, I began losing sensation in my arms and thought I was having a stroke.
Doctors ruled out a stroke and suspected a hemiplegic migraine. But the episodes of paralysis continued for almost a year, without warning or any reliable pattern.

The tests came back normal. The symptoms continued.

I sought specialist help, saw neurologists and underwent investigations, including a brain MRI and nerve-conduction studies. The results came back normal. Despite the tests and specialist opinions, no one could explain why the episodes kept happening.
I pursued every medical avenue available to me. Every serious possibility that was ruled out brought some relief, but I was still living with symptoms nobody could explain.
I kept working. I kept smiling. Privately, I was frightened, exhausted and carrying a sadness I had not told anyone about.
I needed more than a way to cope. I needed answers.

I believed God could heal.

I had been a Christian for many years. I knew God loved me, and I did not doubt His ability to heal.
What I did not understand was whether healing was for everyone. Why were some people healed while others were not? Was there something I needed to understand or do?

For years, I had lived with those questions unresolved. When serious illness and intermittent paralysis became my own experience, I could no longer leave them unanswered.
I needed to understand God’s heart towards healing—and whether I could be confident that He would heal me.

So I went back to God’s Word.

I began searching the Word to understand the Father’s heart, what Jesus had accomplished and what it meant to receive by faith.

What did God actually say about healing?
What did Jesus reveal about the Father?
What happened at the cross?
What did the finished work actually finish?

What I discovered challenged beliefs I had carried for years. I began to understand that I had been approaching God as though healing was something I still needed to persuade Him to provide.
As I searched His Word, I began to see what Jesus had already accomplished. I was asking God to do something He had already provided through His Son.
That changed the way I prayed, the way I spoke and the way I responded to what my body was experiencing.
On 5 December 2019, at a small fellowship gathering, a group of women prayed with me. Something I had been searching to understand became clear: God was not asking me to wait for Him to become willing. He was inviting me to receive what Jesus had already provided.
That evening, I received healing, and the paralysis stopped.
Three days later, I felt the familiar sensation that had so often come before an episode of paralysis. For almost a year, that sensation had meant bracing myself for what would follow. In that moment, it seemed to be challenging what I now believed God had already settled.
I responded from the conviction that I was healed. The sensation left, and no episode followed. God had settled it, and I stood on His Word. Today, I live free of those symptoms—healed and whole. I went looking for healing. I discovered more of Jesus.

What began with healing became RISE.

I was healed and made whole, and I will never minimise that. But I had gone searching for healing without anticipating how much more deeply I would come to know Jesus.
After receiving my healing, I went on to study at Charis Bible College, where I continued to deepen my understanding of the Word and become established in the truths that had transformed my life.
Today, I serve as the youth leader at my local church. I have also led mission trips where I have had opportunities to teach, preach and pray with people.
As my understanding grew and I shared my testimony, I began to hear questions I recognised—questions about God’s heart towards healing, faith, our identity in Christ and what to do when circumstances seem to contradict His Word. I had asked them too.
Those questions, and the discoveries that followed, helped shape RISE: Take Up Your Bed and Walk—the book I wish I could have reached for when I needed answers about God’s heart towards healing.
That same desire to understand is at the heart of The RISE Podcast with Enada. Through teaching and honest conversation, I share what I have learned, explore the questions we carry and return to God’s Word.
If you are seeking healing, standing with someone you love or trying to understand what God’s Word reveals, you do not need to have every question settled before you begin.
